Valorant: Agent Guide

Now ranked Valorant is out, you need to find the agent that you can excel through the ranks to reach that top spot. There are currently 11 characters to pick from with a range of different play styles. This guide aims to give an overview of each agent to help you pick your main character to suit your preferences.

A recommendation for when you have picked your character is to head over to blitz.gg. Here you can watch video guides for your character to learn game-breaking strategies that will give you an overpowering advantage.

A good place to start when picking a character for your play-style is to look at the class of the agent:

  • Duelists are known as the attackers, with quick movement used to inflict damage.
  • Initiators are used for gathering intel and contribute towards pushing as a team.
  • Sentinels are defenders.
  • Controllers offer support and are used as a mid-line player.

Agent Overview:

raze
Duelist
Raze is debatably one of the best DPS characters in Valorant. Her class revolves around explosions, she excels at flushing players out of bombsites with her signature grenade ability (Paint Shells). The Boom Bot is a great tool for finding intel for your team at the start of the round.

If you are looking to frag out the Showstopper ultimate ability is where Raze’s damage comes in to play – The rocket launcher deals high splash damage on impact to players caught in the radius.

Phoenix
Duelist
Phoenix really shines when being the first player attack to the bomb site: his flash (Curveball) blinds players allowing Phoenix to pick off some kills. The Hot Hands ability can allow Phoneix to deal splash damage by throwing a fireball that explodes after hitting the ground. In addition, Phoneix can stand in the fiery flames of both the Hot Hands and Blaze abilities to gain health

JETT
Duelist
Jett fast-pace fighting style gives her the ability to weave in and out of gun-fights without the enemies knowing where she is. A big part of Jetts play-style is movement, her two abilities: Updraft propels Jett up into the air and Tailwind allows her dart in the direction she is moving.

Combining the agile movement speed with her ultimate ability is where things really get fun. Her Bladestorm ultimate arms Jett with 5 highly accurate throwing knives that restock upon killing an enemy. An effective strategy to catch players off guard is to dart into the air and fire the Bladestorm ultimate to finish any players in-sight.

Reyna is best for aggressive players. She is an agent that relies on momentum: after killing an enemy they will leave an orb. Reyna can either utilise the orbs with her Devour ability to heal any previously inflicted damage. Or she can use her Dismiss ability on an orb to become invisible for a few seconds.

The Empress ability will automatically trigger her Devour ability allowing her to quickly heal. With her ultimate activated her Dismiss ability will also make her go invisible – a great way to confuse the enemy.

Viper’s Snake Bite ability shoots a gas canister that creates an area that damages and slows enemies. Viper really shines when she activates her ultimate ability: this sprays a large chemical cloud that takes enemies to 1 health and reduces their visibility giving Viper upper hand.

If you utilise the teleportation with his Dark Cover smokes, you can lurk in the shadows and pounce out when the enemy won’t expect it.

To confuse players even more Omens 2nd ability Paranoia blinds any players it touches. Overall Omen is a strong character if you learn the best spots to utilise his abilities effectively.
